A look ahead...
SHPS is working with MDHHS, MHSAA, VBCDHD and the Van Buren County Superintendents regarding Return to School Guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year. The learning plan for this school year will provide virtual and in person options for students. Students may view or pick up their schedules on August 25, we encourage students to attend SHHS Open Houses (dates listed below).
In reflection...
The past year and half presented many new challenges and I am extremely proud of our students and staff and their dedication to learning and growth. Many students demonstrated tremendous determination in overcoming challenges and barriers and our staff showed grace, understanding, and a commitment to our students while providing multiple levels of support.
New for this year...
We are excited to add a few new programs at SHHS. First of all, the Early College Pathway will allow students to graduate with 1 year of college completed in agreement with the MTA. SHHS is excited to add the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, which will be located at SHHS and provide social emotional and academic support for our students. Also, we have added a Business Department which will allow the following new elective classes: Intro to Business, Business Management/Marketing, Personal Finance, Business Math, and opening a new School Store (Student’s named the School Store “The Lighthouse”). Finally, we are excited to add a College and Career Readiness Advisor, which will develop a post secondary plan for each graduating senior and provide guidance to seniors and parents regarding career and college information and options, scholarships and overall readiness for all graduates.
